Introduction to the use and maintenance of the drying drum of asphalt mixing equipment

  • The drying cylinder is a cylindrical device specially designed for heating and drying the aggregate in the asphalt concrete mixing equipment.
  • Correct use and maintenance of the drying cylinder can maximize the performance of the drying cylinder, prolong its service life and reduce the cost of use. Let’s take a look at the specific operation method.

Pay attention to routine inspections

  • The drying cylinder of asphalt mixing equipment has been tested and inspected before leaving the factory, but it will be subjected to bumps and vibrations during transportation to the construction site.
  • A comprehensive inspection should be carried out before use: check whether all bolts are tightened; whether all key pins are reliable Drive in; whether all driving devices are adjusted according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • whether all pipes are connected correctly, and whether the pipe joints are safe and reliable; whether the whole machine is thoroughly lubricated; start the motor and check whether all parts can rotate smoothly in the correct direction of rotation.
  • Whether the pressure gauge can work normally, whether the safety valve is adjusted to the correct pressure; whether the burner ignition mechanism is suitable, and whether the valve is open.

Correct operation method

  • After the machine is started, it is recommended to operate the equipment manually at the beginning, and then switch to the automatic control mode after reaching the specified production capacity and discharge temperature.
  • Aggregates should be dried with as constant moisture content as possible to maintain a constant final temperature as the aggregate flows through the drying cylinder.
  • If the aggregate sent to the dryer is changing frequently and the moisture content of each batch is changing, the burner should be adjusted frequently to compensate for these changes.

Reasonable maintenance

  • When the equipment is not in operation, the aggregates are not allowed to stay in the drying cylinder. At the end of each working day, the equipment should be operated to unload the aggregates in the drying cylinder. When the aggregate in the cylinder is unloaded, the burner should be turned off and the cylinder should be idling for about 30 minutes for cooling, so as to minimize its deformation or influence on the linear operation of the machine.
  • The drying cylinder support ring should be evenly seated on all support rollers. Bearings are adjusted for wear and misalignment.
  • Always check the alignment of the cylinder.
  • Loosen the thrust rollers first and check how well the cylinder can move within the length of the slot in the support bracket.
  • Then start the drying cylinder, if the cylinder moves back and forth, check whether all the supporting rollers have been adjusted straight.
  • If the support roller has been adjusted to be straight, and the cylinder gradually tends to the feed end, the thrust roller is temporarily offset back and forth (so that the drying cylinder is at the correct working angle) until the correct adjustment has been achieved.
  • If the cylinder gradually tends to the discharge end, adjust the thrust roller from the opposite direction.
  • If the roller track is only in contact with one of the two thrust rollers, the gap pieces can be filled under the support roller support until they can be pressed evenly over the entire width of the support ring surface.
  •  It is stipulated that the position of the cylinder is maintained by the thrust roller, but must not be used to compensate for misalignment errors.
  •  If a chain drive is installed, a small amount of lubricant should be added. The way to adjust the chain tension is to use the adjustment screw on the support.
